Built into the mountainside where glacier meets sky, we've been welcoming adventurers and dreamers since 1987
Honestly? We're not your typical mountain lodge. Yeah, we've got the views and all that, but there's something different happening here at 1250 meters above sea level.
Back in '87, the founders - a couple of ex-climbers who'd summited just about everything worth climbing - had this wild idea. They wanted to build a place where you could experience the raw power of the mountains without giving up a decent night's sleep and a proper meal.
The locals thought they were nuts. Building a luxury hotel this far up? But they pulled it off, and honestly, they set something special in motion.
We've expanded since then - added the spa in '02, renovated the entire west wing in 2015 - but the core philosophy hasn't changed. Mountains first, luxury second, but make no compromises on either.

Look, we're not gonna pretend the mountains need us. They don't. They were here millions of years before, they'll be here long after. What we do is create this little intersection where people can connect with that ancient power.
Every window frames a glacier. Every trail we maintain respects the landscape. We've turned down development opportunities that would've compromised the views or disturbed wildlife corridors. That's just how we roll.
The glacier you see from your room? It's been carving this valley for thousands of years. We're just temporary guests here, same as you. Difference is, we've learned to live alongside it with respect and maybe a bit of awe that never quite wears off.

We've got this thing where most of our team are either born-and-raised Whistler folks or people who came for a season and never left. Our head chef? Trained in Vancouver, spent five years in the Alps, came back because nowhere else had ingredients this fresh or views this distracting.
Marcus, our lead mountain guide, has summited every peak you can see from the lodge. Some of them multiple times. He'll tell you stories that'll make your palms sweat just listening.
The spa team includes a former Olympic physiotherapist and a massage therapist who worked expedition medicine in Nepal. They know tired muscles, trust me on that.

We're one of three hotels in North America with guided glacier walks starting from the property. No bus rides, no transfers.
Geothermal heating, solar panels hidden on the south slope, water recycling systems. We offset 89% of our carbon footprint.
Every guest gets a personalized adventure consultation. We don't do generic tour packages - what's the point of coming to the mountains for that?
Thursday nights, locals come up for live music in the lodge. You'll meet actual climbers, ski patrol, mountain rescue folks. It's authentic, not staged.
We don't chase awards, but we're pretty proud of these
